Memorable Case

One of Stan’s most memorable cases is one where a young woman was blinded by a gunshot while socializing with a friend at a Kennett Square tavern. The young woman, at the time of the incident, had vision only in her right eye having lost the vision in her left eye in an accidental childhood gun accident about 30 years earlier. In the incident, she was struck in the right eye after a patron playing with a loaded gun accidentally caused the gun to discharge, injuring his brother and striking the client in her right eye. That gunshot rendered her totally blind.

As lawyers, Stan and Tom were faced with many legal hurdles and had to be very creative to get the case to a point where it could be tried or settled. Stan’s goal and that of the client was to get her a lump sum payment and a stream of income that would take care of her for life. This case settled on the eve of trial for a confidential sum and Stan and Tom were able to meet their client’s goal. Please see the newspaper article.
